A Look at Mazda i-ACTIVESENSE Active Safety

Safety is more than ever an important consideration for consumers. Everyone wants a safe car, obviously, but until recently we figured that every vehicle was safe and that was that. But in recent years there have been significant advancements in safety technology, specifically active safety technology like Mazda’s i-ACTIVESENSE system for example.

Before getting into the specifics, let’s look at what active safety actually is. Active safety is complimentary to passive safety which protects you if an accident does happen. Examples of passive safety include the vehicle’s airbags or the vehicle’s structure. Active safety’s job is to prevent accidents altogether by detecting potential danger and then intervening to avoid the danger if the driver doesn’t react.

The first thing you need to know about i-ACTIVSENSE technology is that it is a set of safety technologies that can not only detect a potential hazard, but also prevent it by applying the brakes or even by correcting the trajectory of our vehicle.

In other words, it’s like having a guardian angel on your site, monitoring the road and preparing for any potential danger. You will receive a warning first, and if you don’t react the systems will spring into action to apply the brakes or adjust trajectory to prevent the accident.

Adaptive Cruise Control

This technology automatically keeps a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you by reducing speed or applying the brakes when cruise control is enabled.

Collision prevention system

The collision avoidance system detects potential danger in front of you and can automatically apply the brakes if you are distracted.

Lane Departure Prevention System

The lane departure prevention system is able to detect if your vehicle is off course and will be able to automatically correct your vehicle’s trajectory to keep you on track.

Rear Cross Traffic and Blind Spot Monitoring

Blind spot monitoring sends a visual signal to the rearview mirror if another vehicle is in your blind spot. The Rear Cross Traffic Monitoring System can detect the presence of a vehicle approaching perpendicularly when you are backing up.

With i-ACTIVESENSE, you will always be protected on the road. Better yet, the systems aren’t too intrusive which means they won’t hinder the typically dynamic Mazda driving experience. To learn more about i-ACTIVSENSE technology, contact us today at Morrey Mazda.
